On March 10th, 2022, 4th Wheel Social Impact held a virtual workshop to share the findings from a health needs assessment that had been carried out in Chennai and Tiruvallur districts in Tamil Nadu in December 2021. This study was funded by AM Foundation, which serves as the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of AM International.
Primary healthcare is situated at the heart of AM International’s impact investment strategy. To this end, the multifold purpose of the rapid appraisal-styled needs assessment by 4th Wheel was to gain insights into healthcare needs and available facilities within the areas of Chennai and Tiruvallur, to guide future actions of AM Foundation. Specifically, the objectives of the study were to:
- Identify the most vulnerable geographic clusters and locations, where Primary Healthcare Centers (PHC) should be established
- Determine key healthcare needs in these locations to offer relevant health services at the PHCs
- Profile overall health status of communities to strategize other health support programs relating
to water, sanitation, awareness and training, health camps, etc. - Initiate dialogues on collaboration and support with local Non-Governmental Organisations to design and implement health related CSR interventions
As part of next steps, the Foundation is looking for partners who will support planning and implementation of health-related interventions that are informed by the study findings.
An overview of the study findings is available to review, which also includes a request for proposals. Interested partners are requested to reach out to AM Foundation at cyprianpaulraj@amfoundation.net.in with their proposals.
