Global Goals, Local Action – Aligning data collection to SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) push the global development community to set ambitious targets, drive bold innovations, and measure impact consistently. According to a recent study, about 65 percent of the 169 SDG targets can only be achieved through the substantive involvement of multiple local actors. Local action depends on community participation, awareness, and ownership. If data is available at the local level, target-oriented approaches will be possible which will integrate the SDGs into local plans and build monitoring and accountability systems. Issues such as cooperative governance, how to collect the right information and data, how to align local plans with the SDGs, and how to mobilise the necessary resources are particularly critical for us at 4th Wheel.
