M& Framework for ‘Master Coach’

The MasterCoach program is a trainer certification program using a transformative blended learning approach, giving trainers a professional edge in facilitation and a long-lasting impact in terms of enhanced personal and professional identity. While most Training of Trainers (ToT) programs are usually content focused, aiming at improving subject-specific knowledge, the MC program supports trainers and educators to develop essential life and soft skills throughout the five-month training course. The framework was established by 4th Wheel to guide a consistent, transparent and context sensitive Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework of Quest Alliance’s MasterCoach (MC) program. A crucial outcome was a validated Theory of Change (ToC) which the program evaluation is based on.

4th Wheel Approach
The framework is a practical, prescriptive tool, designed to summarize and organize essential elements of MC’s evaluation. This document details the program evaluation framework and facilitates integration of evaluation throughout the program. It is based on the Kirkpatrick’s ‘Four Level of Evaluating Training’ model, which spans across four dimensions: Reaction, Learning, Behaviour and Results. The conceptualization of the M&E framework follows a participatory process, involving crucial stakeholders of the MC program. Participatory video evaluation forms the heart of the framework to assess behaviour and hence performance of program participants.
